Church Music Director

House of Prayer of West Sacramento in West Sacramento, CA has an opening for a position of Church Music Director.

Position Description:

• Work with the senior pastor and Christian worship team to plan music for regular worship services, seasonal events (e.g., Christmas, Easter), and special services.
• Select appropriate hymns, praise songs, and other music that aligns with the sermon themes and church calendar.
• Ensure a balanced music selection that meets the needs of the congregation (e.g., contemporary, traditional, choir, instrumental).
• Lead the church choir, band, and other instrumentalists in rehearsals and services.
• Recruit, train, and supervise musicians, vocalists, and volunteers for all music-related activities.
• Provide spiritual and musical guidance to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
• Organize and lead weekly rehearsals for music teams (choir, band, soloists).
• Ensure that all music is prepared for worship services and that all team members are well-prepared.
• Stay updated on new worship music, trends, and resources to continually improve the worship experience.
• Offer musical training and development opportunities for church musicians and volunteers.
• Plan and coordinate music for special church events, such as weddings, funerals, concerts, and community outreach programs.
• Ensure that music supports the overall theme of any church events or programs.
• Build relationships with congregational members and encourage participation in the church’s music ministry.
• Model and encourage a Christ-centered approach to worship, ensuring that music is an expression of faith and helps lead others into a deeper relationship with God.

Position Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Music, Music Education or related
• 2 years of experience in the job offered
• 2 years of membership in a Baptist church
• Knowledge of various styles of worship music, including traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs
• Knowledge of the Ukrainian and Russian languages

This is a full-time position.
